Today is one of my favorite days of the year… Ben and Jerry’s Free Cone Day!
Held worldwide at every Ben and Jerry’s scoop shop, staff work overtime to make the public happy, one sweet scoop of happiness at a time.

And we wait... I happened to arrive before the doors opened at Noon for Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day 2012. Thankfully it wasn't that bad of a wait at all really!
Here’s just a few photos from the event. I got there before the doors opened. Sadly today is a school day for T, but I vowed to get over there this year for my free lunch.

Here's how to order your ice cream on Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day. The list is an abbreviated menu to help speed up the lines. Just go with it.

We're inside! I was maybe 6th in line at my local scoop shop at Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day this year. Not bad!

Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch. Aside from paying with a short wait in line, I went classic and chose Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough for my free cone this year. Yummy!

"Arty B. Loon" whips up ice cream cone balloons for folks waiting in line for Ben and Jerry's Free Cone Day April 3, 2012.

Along with the balloon artist, Long Beach Towne Center's Ben and Jerry's scoop shop also hired a face painter to keep kids (and their parents!) happy while waiting for their free ice creams. What a sweet idea!
There’s a few hours left in today’s Free Cone Day, so get out there and get yours! Hours are Noon ’til 8 p.m. no matter your time zone. And though the cones are free, donations to pre-selected charities are being accepted worldwide in every scoop shop (I can’t remember our charity in Long Beach – sorry about that, RMT’ers!).
UPDATE: Ben and Jerry’s was kind enough to reply to my inquiry on Twitter, and the name of the charity being supported at the Long Beach scoop shop on Free Cone Day 2012 is the California Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation (CCRF).

Since the other free cone would have melted by the time T got a chance to eat it, I got T this free balloon ice cream instead. I just hope it keeps until after school (part of it already popped in the car, oops!). Thanks to The Ballusionist for accommodating a mom's request though her kid wasn't with her!
Happy Free Cone Day, RMT’ers!
