T’s First Afternoon of Summer Break!

The last day of school was last Thursday. I already wrote a more serious and reflective post on our school year that same morning, but I just now am getting around to the after school fun!

After school let out, T wanted to stick around and play with his school friends a bit on the playground. Of course, he also wanted one last photo with his wonderful teacher, Mrs. Willson. We already miss school and her so much, and it’s not even been a week!

From there we lunched at T’s choice: McDonald’s. Here’s how we roll around here regarding “the Clown”… once a month max, and for a special reason (usually). So this was our June visit, and the last day of school definitely qualifies as a special reason.

We then headed up to Long Beach Towne Center to meet up with other friends who also had their last days at their respective schools. These are our longtime Coastal Cuties play group friends; it’s mind-blowing that these “babies” are now moving right along through grade school (!).

And they played in the pop jets. In their clothes… and shoes and socks in T’s case.

There’s also a little playground there that they spent a lot of time on. I didn’t get any pics of them in there (us moms actually got to hang out and chat some, shocking!), but someone did get a nice group shot of some of the kids who showed up. Thank you, friend!

Some of us even extended pushed our good play date luck on into the early evening with dinner at Islands. Surprisingly, the kids remained fairly well-behaved given this was into Hour Five or so of togetherness.

I have to say that we had a pretty great first summer afternoon. Here’s to 80ish more to come (I hope)!

PS – Oh, and T… next time you can take your socks off, but only if you want to.
