Front Yard Project Almost Complete!

Since returning from our London holiday, C’s been busy… and I mean busy, not that fake, “Oh I am SO BUSY!” nonsense.  He’s completely ripped out and redone our entire front yard!

If you’ve been a following RMT for a while, then you already know that C loves his DIY projects. From C’s time in the attic to his smaller ventures like building T a racetrack for his cars, it seems no project is too big or too small for him to tackle. However, I’ve got to say that this yard project really has put those efforts to shame, and there was nothing shameful in the least about any of them.

Our front yard c. June 2006. We'd just had the exterior of the house painted so I had a few photos in the archives of the yard from this angle.

This is what the yard sort-of looked like before. Mind you, I could only find photos of the yard after we had the exterior painted back in 2006 and then again on Christmas Eve in 2009. But you get the general idea of what was going on before… lots of free-flowing plants, rose bushes, and multiple tiers of landscaping throughout. Oh, and of course, there was T’s swing in there for a few years before, too.

Now here we are to date as of this last weekend. I now understand why people like “clean lines” oh so very much. And I had no idea our front yard actually was fairly sizeable!

I have work-in-progress pictures, too, but to spare you all the photo fatigue of a day-by-day update here, I put them on Facebook for those who want to see that level of laborious detail.

So if you haven’t heard from C these last several weeks or been wondering why we’ve not had you over, now you know why and please forgive him/us. And to those who know who they are, we’ll have you over ASAP to show this awesomeness off in person soon enough!

C and T sitting down to our very first al fresco dinner (of spaghetti, so it really was “al fresco”!) in our newly remodeled front yard! Thanks to C for all of his hard work almost daily without fail the last two months. Now, have a drink and enjoy that yard!

Cheers to C for a job EXTREMELY well-done!
