I wanted to pass along a wonderful website I just learned about this week called Plan a Day Out.
Plan a Day Out is a search-engine style of website for Orange County destinations and events. The way it works is you type in what day you want to do something, how many persons there are in your party (adults and kids), your kids’ ages, and how far from home you wish to travel for your activity. The site then brings up a comprehensive list of events and other destinations in your preferred distance that are appropriate for all the people in your group! The events listed include prices for admission, whether you need additional cash on hand (think arcade games on-site), if anything is free with admission, and/or other details about the event and/or its location once you open it up from the list!
PS – The list even provides footnotes about hard-fast rules about age-caps, meaning if the events are just for preschoolers or just for older ages with a set minimum age, so Plan a Day Out does its best to make sure you do not get somewhere and find disappointment instead of a fun day out (very nice touch).
Maybe I am late to this website, but someone left this flier on my car at Bella Terra today, and I am so glad they did (and who likes fliers on their car, not me usually!). From just two minutes on the site, I learned about a Reptile Zoo in Fountain Valley that we definitely will go check out sometime, and the site also reminded me of the $1 playground Atlantis in Garden Grove; that’s two more things we will be putting on our summer calendars!

If every flier left on my car included such wonderful information, I’d love fliers on my car everyday! Turns out, PlanADayOut.com is the only business ever to get the car-flier placement just right.
From the flier:
“PlanADayOut.com is a FREE online resource for OC families. Created by an OC mom, the free searchable database offers hundreds of kid-friendly outing ideas, which can be filtered by distance, cost, child age and MUCH MORE!”
Of course a parent developed this website, that totally makes sense to me. Kudos to you, PlanADayOut Mom-Founder, and many, MANY thanks! As a mom of a kid who asks at 9am what are we going to do TOMORROW, this site is going to help me oh-so-much!
Yay for cheap-free things to do this summer! Enjoy the rest of yours, RMT’ers, and have fun planning your days – and weekends – out and about!
